ORGAN OF THE MONTH 86: August 2009
This modern instrument by Peter Collins was visited by Lichfield Organists' Association earlier this year, and I am grateful to former President Chris Stormont for supplying photographs. Very much in the classical tradition, with flat stop jambs and tracker action, it nevertheless includes pistons to all divisions (including Generals) and incorporates a wooden Violone from a previous organ by Taylor of Leicester that came from a Methodist Church in Burton-upon-Trent.The fine oak casework was inspired by a 16th century example in Old Radnor, Wales, believed to be the oldest in Britain. |
