Specification

Members of BOA recently visited Chester Road Baptist Church as part of an "organ crawl" to Wylde Green and Boldmere.

The two-manual instrument was originally supplied by the Yorkshire firm of Peter Conacher & Co in 1912, and the firm is still to be found operating from Huddersfield.  It originally had just two Pedal Organ stops and a five-stop Great.  It was refurbished in 1949 and 1963, but in 1991  was considerably enlarged and modernised by Lloyd & Haynes of Bilston.

The organ is centrally located, with the console situated just beyond the central, sunken baptistry.  The pipework forms a focal point above and beyond it.  It is currently in the care of R J Daly.
