Former Leonard Gibbons sponsored student and BOA member James Luxton took part in a masterclass during this year's IAO annual congress based in Brighton.  Your Webmaster and several other BOA members were there to support him as he played Bach's Piece d'orgue (BWV 572) on the East Organ (there's a three-manual Walker at the West End!) in the chapel of Lancing College.

As might be expected from this famous Danish builder, the key action is tracker with mechanical stop action, although it is possible to play the (much larger) West Organ by electric action from this console, stop selection being made via six General pistons.

Its 1370 pipes includes case pipes of polished tin, reflecting the light from the surrounding chandeliers and windows, and the organ both looks and sounds wonderful, perfectly suited to the three Bach pieces that were the subject of the masterclass played by James and his two colleagues (see left photo).
