“Now I used to play that Guilmant sonata, but which one?” “Obviously Bach, but again, which one?” “Now was that Alain, or the Durufle/Alain? – damn, picked the wrong one!” “Yes! Early French – Couperin – correct for once.” These are some brief comments on efforts to identify the 20 musical extracts, giving composer, title, and (unlikely) the organ on which they were played. A highly entertaining, enjoyable -and frustrating – quiz which Alan Taylor had compiled for us at our April event at Broadway United Reformed Church, Walsall.
